Claremont artists of all ages and skill levels are invited to enter a competition to design and create banners to be displayed on lampposts in the Village. Entrants must live or attend school in Claremont, kindergarten through college, to be eligible.
Artists wishing to be considered must submit a proposed design based on the theme "Enjoy Claremont." The City's Banner Committee, based on visual appeal, creativity, and how well the design conveys the theme, will select fourteen winning entries.
Selected artists will be given a blank banner on which to paint their design. A cash award of $250 will be given to each artist upon completion of his or her banner.
All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form, which can be obtained from the City's Arts Coordinator, Francine Baker, by calling her at (909) 399-5391 or sending an e-mail message to her at fbaker@ci.claremont.ca.us. Ms. Baker can also be contacted to obtain more information about the contest's rules and requirements.
Deadline for submitting designs and entry forms is January 8, 2009. Winning artists will be notified January 29, 2009 with the banners scheduled for installation in the Village on April 1, 2009.
